Best and Worst Snap Swivels Pros and Cons
Best and Worst Snap Swivels Pros and Cons
Today I want to show you all snaps are not the same do not lose that fish of a life time, this is a standard type there is a sampo regular snap this, sampo with a cross lock they are all very good I use this on for salmon excellent for northern pike change to a steel leader without retiring, the cross lock would be more for salt water the cross lock is not a swivel your bait can roll and twist the line cross lock with the safety on it I use these for muskie fishing use at the top end of fluorocarbon leader.
There is another light weight small cross lock I would not trust them for fish over 10 or 15 pounds standard small barrel snap swivel has small wire in fact a better snap swivel with better strength and better quality bearing swivel that is milled this is the best in my opinion, the worst one of all that I don't recommend buying is the type without the snap the wire is just clipped in just the bend of the wire helps keep the pull on this leg if twisted in fishes mouth it can pop open, it has happened quite a number of times make sure snap is secure once they get some wear discard you can bend them back in line with pliers not real expensive you can use a lot of.
Keep in mind that fish of a lifetime comes just once in a lifetime.
Good luck
